Kara Morton L.Ac.

Licensed Acupuncturist and Classical Chinese Medicine practitioner in San Francisco.

I came to this work through my own healing journey. After a back fracture, traumatic brain injury, and years of anxiety and digestive issues, I discovered that true healing isn’t about fixing what we think is broken. It is about listening to what the body is communicating to us. Through acupuncture, herbal medicine, somatic therapy, and ancestral healing, I learned to work with my anxiety rather than against it, restored strength to my digestion, and reclaimed my cognitive clarity and vitality.

Guiding others through similar transformations.

I work with people who feel stuck, disconnected from their bodies and those who sense there's a deeper pattern beneath their symptoms that Western medicine hasn't addressed. My approach blends the precision of Classical Chinese Medicine with an intuitive ability to recognize what's happening beneath the surface. We will discover where you're holding tension, where energy is blocked and what your body is asking for.

My Approach

When we clear what's in the way, whether that's physical pain, emotional repression, or ancestral imprints, we create space for what wants to emerge: more energy, clarity about your path and the courage to follow what calls to you. I call this returning to your innate health and stepping into your unique destiny.

In sessions, I hold two things at once: a clear view of what wants to shift and deep compassion for exactly where you are. I bring warmth, presence and seven years of hands-on bodywork experience (including craniosacral therapy) to support your nervous system in feeling safe enough to change.

I hold a Master's degree from the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley and continue studying Classical Acupuncture with my mentor Ann Cecil-Sterman.

Classical Chinese Medicine

Classical Chinese Medicine works with the body's channel systems. This is a vast network of energetic pathways that connect every part of you, including your organs, emotions and even your spirit. When these channels flow freely, you experience health and vitality. When they become blocked or obstructed, symptoms arise as a way for the body to communicate what needs to change.

Unlike modern acupuncture, which focuses on a smaller set of commonly used channels and point prescriptions, Classical Chinese Medicine engages all 68 channels in the body. This allows for a more refined, individualized approach that addresses not just your symptoms, but the deeper patterns creating them.

Services

I use different  healing modalities to restore flow in your channels.

Acupuncture

An acupuncture session will be combined with other healing modalities such as cranial sacral, gua sha, moxa, nutritional guidance, lifestyle recommendations and channel meditations.

Remote Healing

These sessions mirror in-person appointments, except we meet via Zoom. I work with your channels energetically rather than with needles. Remote treatments honor the original shamanic roots of this medicine, when healing occurred through focused intention on the channel systems.

We'll discuss your health concerns and I'll assess your tongue, then follow the map your body presents for treatment. Think of it as an energetic tuning—a shared meditation. You'll want a quiet, comfortable space where you can rest undisturbed during our session.

Testimonials

I've been seeing Kara weekly for over a year and it has changed my life. Kara is incredibly nurturing and intuitive about what my body needs. I feel like I've gone to a spa after my sessions with her...not only physically but mentally as well. I've tried many acupuncturists and Kara is by far the best. I'm so grateful to have found her!
